Who we are

“AURA” Ukrainian Roma Advocacy Alliance is the association consisted of Roma and non-Roma activists from Ukraine and Germany with a long experience in advocacy, research and awareness-raising. We unite the efforts of several close partner organizations such as the Youth Agency for the Advocacy of Roma Culture “ARCA” and the Society for Threatened Peoples. The alliance was founded on 18 February 2025 and is currently being registered as a non-profit association (e.V.) in Germany.

AURA Key Objectives

• advocacy for the political, social, and cultural rights and needs of Ukrainian Roma at all levels; working for equality, inclusion and participation of Roma in Ukraine, Germany and in Europe in all fields of life;
• raising awareness on the need to combat antigypsyism; work on intervention, prevention and monitoring of antigypsyism;
• promoting cultural diplomacy and Roma representation in media, arts, culture and historical narratives, with specific attention on remembrance of the Holocaust of Roma and Sinti;
• acting as representative of Ukrainian Roma (refugees) on national and international level; working on the inclusion of Roma rights and needs in international policies;
• developing, implementing and promoting mainstreaming approaches and targeted programs for empowerment and inclusion of Roma with an intersectional approach;
• monitoring and research about antigypsyism and on the situation of Roma in Ukraine, and of refugees in Germany and other countries;
• supporting Roma in Ukraine and refugees in Germany and other countries who are in need, including by developing projects and programs.
